Metal distributor in Jamaica, Queens is looking for an experienced Receiving/Purchasing Clerk for a part-time position. Please reply with resume and salary requirements pasted in the body of the email - no attachments will be opened.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Preparing and issuing purchase orders, bid requests and change notices as needed
Forwarding procurement requests to appropriate vendor as needed
Checking invoices for accuracy and forwarding to A/P for payment
Comparing invoices against purchase orders and shipping/receiving documents to verify receipt of items ordered
Reviewing purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
Expediting purchase orders to assure proper delivery times
Contacting vendors regarding errors in partial or duplicate shipments, prices, credits and substitutions
Discussing defective or unacceptable materials with vendors to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
Maintaining procurement records such as items of materials purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
Comparing physical inventories to office records
Verifying clerical computations against physical counts of stock and adjusting errors in computation or count, or investigating and reporting reasons for discrepancies
Managing material counts in stock and posting totals to inventory records
Preparing lists of depleted items and recommending survey of defective or unusable items
Maintaining file of returnable items received from or returned to vendors
Preparing reports such as inventory balance and shortages
Collecting certification forms from vendors and keeping file current
Ensuring certification forms match material
Qualifications:
• Solid computer and math skills
• Previous experience with receiving/purchasing
• Strong communication skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
